Question: How do we make a claim?
Answer: From September 2009, OCR has introduced an online claims process and we will no longer be sending paper claim forms following receipt of entries.
The new online claims system enables teachers to record candidates’ achievements over time, eliminating the need to keep separate records. The claim can be built by adding candidates at suitable points and inputting unit grades once assessment decisions have been made within the centre. Claims are also sent electronically to your Visiting Moderator, and your centre will receive information about your sample via the online system.
Question: Our students have completed unit 1 we are about to start the next unit. Can we do another 60 GLH unit, such as unit 2, to complete the Level 2 National First Award?
Answer: For candidates to achieve the OCR Level 2 National First Award in ICT they must achieve the mandatory unit (Unit 1 - 6 0glh) and 1 30glh optional unit. QCA have not accredited any OCR Level 2 Nationals in ICT qualification to consist of 2 x 60glh units, therefore OCR cannot accept two 60 GLH units.
Question: What is the final date when candidates can be certificated to guarantee certification within that academic year?
Answer: OCR Operations gave the deadline of 30 June for those centres who wanted to receive results for OCR Nationals in line with other qualifications results day, ie GCSE and for those centres/candidates who need to submit data to UCAS (Level 3) and for inclusion in performance tables
Question: What are top up entries?
Answer: Candidates can ‘top up’ from one qualification to the next, e.g. from an Award to a Certificate. Topping up allows candidates to complete only the additional units required to complete the next qualification. Provided that you have made a full award entry previously (it is not possible to top up unit entries), you simply make an entry using the appropriate top up entry code.
Please refer centres to the entries section of the Admin Guide: OCR Nationals.
Question: When will candidates get their certificates?
Answer: OCR aims to despatch certificates within 10 days of the claim being processed by OCR Operations. It is not 10 days after the visit. Bear in mind that June is also a very busy month. |
