HELP!! Teaching Health and Social Care and how to do a GTP??

I have a degree in Health Studies. I have recently thought about teaching. I have applied for the PGCE, to see if i can get on. I have bits of class room experience but not a lot. I am planning on arranging something. However, my main query is i would prefer to train on the job - do a GTP!! I am really confused though. How do you go about getting on this. I have read to apply for an unqualified teacher role....where would i find this?....i did think should i try for a teaching assistant post? however i have noticed that there aren't many health and social care teachers or assistant jobs out there at present. Would i be better off contacting schools that run this subject asking for observation experience and hoping they can help me if they realise this is what i want to do? Help....
