Ok, couple of thoughts - welcome any feedback.
1. Finding size of graphics during research.
Quite possible to do if you find a button for example on a website. Right click, save image as then check properties. BUT
On a navigation bar on most modern website (eg: created using xhtml/css/javascript) they are created using several images and it is often difficult to get the images to calculate a size. This is even worse if the navigation bar is created in flash as part of a flash website.
Similarly most modern banner adverts are created in flash - often very hard to rip from a site to discover size without using the little gems of software we would not like students to have on the system for fear of copyright infringment!!
How do folks cope with this?
2. Pass criteria for Navigation Bar.
Suggests they have 'made use of a table'. If you use a more advanced technique to create a drop down for distinction you would not use a table - thereby failing to fulfill a Pass criteria which I understand is an absolute no-no. I'm intending to NOT use tables with my students and argue my case regarding non use of tables as we have used a more modern/advnaced technique - does this seem sensible??
Relatively new to the OCR spec so I may well be missing something so welcome any thoughts. |

To get around the size etc issue with some graphics, I get them to do it for those that they can. I don't worry too much about AO1 and 2 and encourage them to go for distinctions on the others to get an overall Distinction.
If you read other posts you can ignore the referance to a table. Although for an easy Pass you can get students to create a table menu in e.g. DreamWeaver.

| When a size of a graphic is difficult to find I get the students to measure the size on the screen in centimetres. In the spec it does mention physical size and file size. |

| I just make sure that they include some that allows them to get the size. |
